how to get a free boiler or government boiler grant?

Did you know you could get a free boiler through a government boiler grant? Yes, you can! Simply check if you qualify for the free boiler or government boiler grant. If you need to replace your old or faulty boiler, apply for a free boiler or government boiler grant. This grant can help you save a significant amount on the cost of a new boiler.

Boiler grants, eco-schemes, and rental schemes are excellent ways to save on your budget. However, the government boiler grant isn’t available to everyone. If you qualify, you’ll need to choose the best option for the grant. Review the grant options and select the one that best suits your household. Expert boiler reviews can also guide your selection.

Energy Companies Obligation (ECO)

The government’s Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) scheme allows some homeowners and private tenants to get new boilers to replace their old or damaged ones at no cost or a highly subsidized price. This scheme aims to reduce the carbon footprint of low-income households and alleviate fuel poverty. The government boiler grant can help these families install a new boiler or improve the insulation of their current one.

You may qualify for the government boiler grant if:

  • Your boiler is over eight years old.
  • You have a low income and receive social support.

The grant has limited funding and stringent qualification criteria, especially benefits-related criteria. To be eligible, you must receive at least one of the eligible benefits like pension credit, child tax credit, or income support. Another criterion is that your annual household income shouldn’t exceed £20,000. Additionally, you must be a homeowner or private tenant with a landlord’s permit.

The scheme ensures that big energy companies assist low-income families in meeting the government’s carbon emission targets. Some participating energy companies include:

  • EDF Energy
  • British Gas
  • Shell Energy
  • Npower
  • Co-operative Energy
  • Scottish Power
  • Eon
  • Utility
  • Ovo
  • Utilita
  • SSE

If any of these companies is your boiler supplier, they will contact you if you qualify for the grant. If you are eligible but haven’t been contacted, you can still apply for the government boiler grants under the ECO scheme.

Affordable Warmth Obligation

The Affordable Warmth Obligation, part of the ECO scheme and a replacement for the Warm Front, supports you with replacing or repairing your boiler or providing other energy-saving assistance. It may also help you upgrade your heating system.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Receive certain benefits.
  • Be a homeowner or a private tenant with a landlord’s permit.

You may also qualify if you live in social housing, but the grant may only cover insulation or new heating for a first-time installation. Check your Energy Performance Certificate to find out your home energy rating (E, F, or G).

FAQs

If you are a homeowner living in your property, with a 15+ year old boiler and current receipt of one or more of the listed benefits, you qualify to apply.

For any further information on your eligibility, get in touch with us today.

If we consider an old boiler may only be operating at 65% of its efficiency you could literally be wasting 35p of every pound you spend on energy.

The good news is that new boilers with an ‘A’ rating can operate at around 90% + efficiency which translates into less than 10p wastage. So, you could save as much as £300 per year by replacing your old and inefficient boiler with a brand new one with an ‘A’ rating. Imagine what you could do with that money!

One of the easiest methods to save money on your energy bills is by obtaining a Free Boiler Grant and installing loft insulation. These simple measures can have a substantial impact on reducing your energy expenses.

Funding for your Home Energy Improvements is paid for by the Leading Energy Companies such as British Gas, SSE, Scottish Power, N-Power and so on. They have a quota to fill for improving the energy performance of UK Homes and can face large fines if they miss their targets. The aim is to reduce how much fuel UK households use on average. To improve this they aim to make generating heat cheaper (with new boilers), and maintaining heat easier (with insulation).
